Diner Redesign

Summary

Problem

The current data aggregation UI that is critical to Rosnet's operations, desperately needs modernization and to be redesigned as a browser-based tool.

My Role

Lead UX Designer conducting user research, storyboarding, wireframing, high-fidelity prototyping.

Users & Research

Understanding the User

For this particular project, all of the users are Rosnet employees. I held several meetings with 3 different groups that use the system to manage client data and onboard new clients. Understanding the needs of each "persona" helped me to arrive at a design that met the needs across all users.

Ideation

Digital Wireframes

Using Figma, I created digital wireframes as the next step in the design process, focusing on information architecture and structuring the information to match user needs.

Dashboard / Landing Page

The dashboard / landing page provides key metrics on the status of various aspects of the system.

Restaurant Locations

Based on user feedback and preferences, users want the ability to search within one or more columns.

Offcanvas / Slidein Features for Location

Selecting a restaurant location slides in options for managing data for the selected location.

Accessibility

The following considerations were included in my design to address accessibility for users with a visual impairment.

• Color contrast was used to promote readability by those with visual impairments.
• Hierarchy and layout were used to help information be visible at a glance.
• Typography used was a sans serif font to create a clean and legible display.

Potential Next Steps for Design

Based on the success of my initial design, these are some potential next steps for the product.

• As a Designer & Engineer, I can begin creating function and responsive React components, JSX templates, JavaScript, and CSS/SCSS.
• Make additional progressive steps for the next phase of the redesign.
